About Us

My story:

My name is Marvin Evans I am 19 from New Zealand.

I started Webstate 2 years ago in high school when I was 17. I always knew I was a business man from a young age, I never liked being told what to do or working for other people.

It might just be the teen skateboarder/rebel in me but I remember in detention for being late to school I started doing some push ups to actually make some use of the wasted time, and even after the deputy principal was yelling in my ear like 3 times to stop I kept going 😂 I said “I’m doing my work”. Some real work, not the bullshit work that school tried to make you do lol.

Anyways, after I released my first product (The Webstate Hoodie) I was struggling to make any sales at all. But after putting in hours and hours into the business, staying up late in the school holidays and weekends, a TikTok of mine blew up and I actually made hella sales…

I made about 4k usd and I thought I had “escaped the matrix” but soon I realised the cost of buying the hoodies and shipping them to the customers actually left me with only like $200 profit 😭

Despite this, I kept pushing, after the first success I fell in love with the process and I knew it’s what I wanted to do with my life. It was like a childhood dream come true: I always sketched designs for skateboards and backpacks for my made up clothing brand with my friend.

Now I could use that same creativity to make clothing that is actually designed for skateboarders. Using stash pockets and durable materials, everything I make has a purpose in place for skaters to use and love.

I was honestly just making things that I thought were awesome and that I would wear but in reality everyone else loved the products as much as I did!

Webstate isn’t just a clothing brand, it’s for the 17 year old version of myself. t’s for people that want clothes that are actually built for their lifestyle: skating with their friends past curfew, causing trouble in school and wanting to live life the way they want to without someone telling them what to do. As corny as that sounds, it’s true 🔥
